Kenya company search, check & credit report

Verify any registered Kenyan company — investigated in-country and delivered in English.

Kenya is the commercial gateway to East Africa, hosting the regional offices of multinationals operating across the East African Community and the broader Horn of Africa region. Companies register with the Business Registration Service through the eCitizen portal, and the modernised electronic register makes basic verification straightforward, but operating reality, particularly for smaller trading entities, still requires on-the-ground confirmation.

What our Kenya company report includes

Our Kenya reports are researched from sources including Business Registration Service (BRS) filings, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the courts registry and sectoral regulators; fees may apply for certain records. Depth of any given section reflects what the subject company has filed and what is publicly retrievable at the time of the search. Our local researchers research the available records to establish the trading address, business activity and management identity.

Why verify a Kenyan company?

Kenya's corporate environment is more transparent than many of its East African neighbours, but the regional role of Nairobi as a trading hub means many companies operate across borders into Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and Ethiopia. That cross-border activity is rarely captured in any single national register, and a contracting party's exposure can be concentrated in countries where corporate records are far less reliable. A Kenya report flags those linkages where they exist.

The most common verification issues we can see are around active trading status and tax compliance. The Business Registration Service maintains a clean digital register, but a company in good standing on the register can still be behind on KRA filings, and a valid Tax Compliance Certificate is a practical prerequisite for any meaningful contract, particularly with government or parastatal buyers. Our reports can confirm the current TCC position.

Sectoral regulation is another area where verification adds value. Banking is supervised by the Central Bank of Kenya and SACCOs by SASRA (the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority), capital markets by the CMA, energy by EPRA, and pharmaceuticals by PPB. A company operating in a regulated sector without the relevant licence is operating outside its registered scope, with significant counterparty risk implications.

For supplier qualification, trade credit, partnership formation or any prepayment to a Kenyan company, an investigated report combines the modernised public register with the on-the-ground enquiry that the register alone cannot provide.
