Iceland company search, check & credit report

Verify any registered Icelandic company — investigated in-country and delivered in English.

Iceland is a small, highly developed Nordic economy with major activity in fisheries, aluminium smelting, geothermal energy, tourism and data-centre services. Companies are registered with Skatturinn (Iceland Revenue and Customs), which administers the Register of Enterprises, and the kennitala (national ID) functions as the universal corporate identifier. Iceland is in the EEA (not the EU) and applies EU-aligned corporate-disclosure standards.

What our Iceland company report includes

Our Iceland reports draw on sources including the Register of Enterprises (Fyrirtækjaskrá) at Skatturinn, the Central Bank of Iceland (which absorbed the Financial Supervisory Authority, FME, in 2020) for regulated entities, and the district courts; fees may apply for certain records. Coverage of any individual source depends on what the subject company has filed and what is publicly accessible at the time of the search. Icelandic filings are translated into clear English.

Iceland's Financial Supervisory Authority (Fjármálaeftirlitið, FME) was merged into the Central Bank of Iceland on 1 January 2020, which now carries out financial supervision.

Note on Icelandic data: Iceland uses the kennitala as a universal identifier for both individuals and corporate entities: the same number format covers all. Capital controls imposed after the 2008 banking crisis have been largely removed, but Iceland's small size means most large transactions are well known in market.

Why verify an Icelandic company?

Iceland's small, well-documented economy makes verification straightforward: the Register of Enterprises is digital and information-rich, and the kennitala system simplifies entity identification. For overseas counterparties, the practical value of an investigated report concentrates on group-structure analysis (many Icelandic entities are part of Nordic groups) and on confirmation of beneficial ownership, particularly given the substantial restructuring activity since the 2008 banking crisis.
