Why verify a Myanmar company?
Myanmar is one of the highest-risk jurisdictions globally for counterparty engagement, and the primary risk is sanctions exposure rather than ordinary credit risk. Multiple individuals, entities and military-linked conglomerates (notably MEHL and MEC and their subsidiaries) are subject to US, UK and EU sanctions, and indirect exposure through beneficial ownership is the default trap.
For any business considering engagement with a Myanmar counterparty, this is the minimum due diligence step.
