Colombia company search, check & credit report

Verify any registered Colombian company — investigated in-country and delivered in English.

Colombia is the third-largest economy in Latin America and a key sourcing market for oil, coal, coffee, flowers, textiles and increasingly nearshoring services for the US. Companies are registered with the local Chambers of Commerce under a national framework coordinated by Confecámaras, and the Registro Único Empresarial y Social (RUES) provides consolidated public access. Verification is reasonably accessible, but the size of the informal economy and the residual sanctions exposure of certain regions and sectors mean a full investigated report is worthwhile.

What our Colombia company report includes

Our Colombia reports draw on sources including the Cámara de Comercio (RUES) registry, the DIAN tax authority, the Superintendencia de Sociedades for filing companies, and court and prosecutorial records; fees may apply for certain records. Coverage of any individual source depends on what the subject company has filed and what is publicly accessible at the time of the search. Local researchers can document trading premises and confirm beneficial ownership through direct enquiry.

Note on Colombian data: Colombia's OFAC Clinton List (the Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers list) remains a unique screening requirement: US-linked counterparties or US-dollar transactions involving Clinton List entities or their controllers create direct US sanctions exposure. Our reports can include this check as standard.

Why verify a Colombian company?

Colombia has transformed from a market dominated by security concerns into one of Latin America's most institutionally sophisticated corporate environments. The Cámara de Comercio system is one of the better-organised registries in the region and the SAS legal form has made company formation efficient and accessible. For overseas counterparties, this means a Colombia report can confirm a great deal from public sources, but the country's specific sanctions and integrity history means certain checks remain essential.

The single most distinctive screening requirement for Colombia is the OFAC Clinton List: the US Treasury's Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers Kingpin Act list, which has historically named hundreds of Colombian individuals and entities. Doing business with a Clinton List entity, or with companies controlled by listed individuals, creates direct US sanctions exposure for the foreign counterparty.

Beyond sanctions, the practical verification issues are typical of the region. Active trading status (annual matrícula renewal), tax compliance (DIAN), beneficial ownership disclosure (the new RUB regime), and the gap between the registered address and operating premises. Our agents can check each of these as part of the standard report. Court records (civil, commercial, criminal and prosecutorial) are accessible and screened.

For supplier qualification, distribution agreements, trade credit, joint ventures or M&A targets in Colombia, an investigated report combines the public-register data with the sanctions overlay that the Colombian market specifically requires.
